Written by Annie I went out Saturday night... although I was really unsure about it. The night started out normally enough. Haley, Kate, and I drank some wine, blared Madonna's new CD, and got ready! We were joking because we all wore pleather in some shape or form... Haley in black pleather pants and a crazy silky purple shirt that tied in the back, Kate in metallic grey pleather pants and a silver halter top, and me in funky jeans and a dark brown pleather tank top. We were DIVAS, I had a killer buzz on, and I felt like I fit in for the first time. We went to a big Halloween party at a nightclub and danced like crazy fools, then we went to a private party where EVERYONE was either dancing, or making out, most of them in various forms of undress. I think Kate and Haley kept pretty conservative for my sake, because I got the impression that they would normally have been right in the middle of things. This was so different from the parties I'm used to where the keg runs out at midnight, and we run up to the liquor store and get 3 or 4 cases to last the remainder of the night, and at least two people get sloppy drunk and end up puking, and the kitchen table is the social center, with everyone playing some drinking card game that we've all been playing since high school. There wasn't ONE sloppy drunk (although there were times I felt I was well on my way), and there wasn't a budweiser or miller in the place. Haley went home with some guy, Brandt... and Kate made scrambled eggs for us when we finally showed up at home around 5 AM or so. It was a very good time, but I'm SO not used to all that. Woke up yesterday around 2 PM and looked out the window to see Kate in the backyard, laying on the hammock, with her dog, Jonah curled up on the grass nearby. Kate was reading, but I noticed that she seemed more than a little interested in the neighbor, whom she had apparently hired to rake up some leaves. When I called her in to ask her if she wanted some tea, I asked her about him. He is extremely attractive, but it turns out he is about to turn 21, which is not only SIGNIFICANTLY younger than us, but a very frat boy, silly age. I think she lost interest, because she came in and drank hot tea with me, and we pulled out coloring books and colored for the remainder of the afternoon. The job at the florist shop is going fairly well, but I don't feel very professional. We aren't all that busy right now, and they haven't started letting me design anything yet. There is a position available at the Historical Society, where Haley works, and she won't stop pestering me about it, but I don't want to lose my creative outlet. Kate continues to focus on Southern Literature at the local university (I've lost track of the number of times she's changed her major)and draws like crazy every time she gets the chance. She's got huge amounts of money from family, which is how she has come to own this charming little house... and why our rent money goes straight in her metallic grey pleather pocket. I'm tired and stressed and I miss the calm quiet of home. It will be another lilac scented bath and "Girl, Interrupted" for me again tonight. Maybe I'll find a love interest soon. Something exciting has got to be in the works soon... I shall continue to hope so, anyway.
