Written by Annie Well, here I am... I figured it was the perfect time for me to start this, as I just moved to a new city last weekend. So here I am sitting in front of my PC on a dreary Saturday morning waiting for my new roommates to recover from what was apparently a wild, chaotic Friday night. I stayed home, opting instead to wallow in a lilac-scented bath, reading "Girl, Interupted" for what seems like the cajillionth time. The pace of EVERYTHING is so much faster here, I just needed last night to adjust. I found a job here in a florist's shop. I don't make a hella lot of money yet, but I'll make enough to pay Kate and Haley some rent money, and maybe have enough left over to have a bit of fun... I've thought of finding a second job at a coffee shop or bookstore, but I'm doing things one step at a time. About my roommates.... I've known Kate for quite some time, and when she emailed me and suggested I move down and live with her, I could hardly refuse. My life has been rather slow starting, to say the least, and this has probably been the wisest decision I have made yet. Anyway, Kate has always personified the exotic Southern city she was raised in ~ mysterious, charming, and wildly exciting. She's also quite beautiful. I'd describe her as TAWNY ~ golden skin, hair, and eyes. She's the type of girl who can wear a threadbare pair of old jeans, a men's white t-shirt, and those little tortoise shell eyeglasses and look absolutely stunning... I can't get a good grasp on Haley yet, as I've only known her for a week. She has dark, thick, shiny brown hair, porcelain skin and midnight blue eyes. She's gorgeous, but where Kate is inclined toward laid-back and casual, Haley will wear leopard print and high black boots. I don't know where I fit in with my awkwardly growing out insanely curly not quite blonde but not quite brown hair and my not quite blue but not quite gray eyes. I'm more inclined toward introversion, where these two most certainly aren't! Last night, for example, they had about five guys over and proceeded to get pretty drunk before they even called a cab to take downtown... and all I could do was retreat to the bathtub.... Later, when they had apparently been home for a short amount of time, I wandered into the kitchen to find Haley sitting on the counter and Kate sort of slouched into the space between her knees. Haley was gently brushing through Kates hair through her fingers, and the look in both their eyes was so intimate... it made me feel really strange. And kind of jealous. I don't think they are lovers or anything of the sort ~ I just think they are lucky enough to have one of those friendships that runs that deep. I don't think I've ever had that with anyone. They proceeded to persuade me into being a bit more social tonight. I agreed. What better time to start than a Saturday? I think that last night settled my soul and I am ready to get my start here now....
